Description: To introduce basic fetal monitoring principles to the new perinatal nurse.

Goals: To introduce basic fetal monitoring principles to the new perinatal nurse.
Objectives:
  1. State factors contributing to fetal stress in labor.
  2. Describe advantages/disadvantages of EFM instrumentation.
  3. Identify acceleration and deceleration patterns.
  4. State intrauterine resuscitation techniques to be used for nonreassuring patterns.
  5. Identify uterine patterns.
  6. Interpret antepartal testing results.
