Pesticide Exposure and Treatment Education
for Health Care Providers

Produced by: The Casa y Campo Project at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC).

Target audience: health care providers and outreach workers who work with farmworkers and rural populations.

Objectives

Upon the completion of this activity, the learner should be better able to:

  • Describe basic background knowledge, including pesticide classes, pesticide poisoning, and treatment.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the basic skill set.

  • Demonstrate differential diagnosis of organophosphate/caramate poisoning.

  • Provide educationally and culturally appropriate patient and health education.

  • Find resources on pesticides.

Credit Statement

The Wake Forest University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of  1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The Wake Forest University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
